Valparaiso

Valparaiso is 80 minutes drive from Santiago. We were picked up at 830 after a delicious Omelette and coffee breakfast. We had been awake for 4 hours by this time as we had not get over our jet lag.

Google helped our conversation with the driver , Juan, but Sylvie soon discovered her Spanish was understandable and chatted with the driver. My Spanish came out in french and german which was not so understandable.

Valparaiso is not the small village I had imagined but a city of 3 million people.

We visited the house of Neruda which offered this view of the city.

The rooms of the house were fresh with sea air. We walked quietly through the house taking in the views.

Valparaiso

We walked around the city taking photos . We stopped to hear a man sing in Spanish and play a guitar. We were slowly but surely sinking into south America.

    • Hi Sarah. The house had the most amazing view of the sea. The windows were open and the sea-breeze was so lovely. He also had plans to put on a helicopter pad on the roof but i think he died before it was made.
